I confess, I have dreams of starting over. Of a clean slate. All I’m going to say is: be careful what you dream! It may just become a reality.

Yes, ironically the universe sometimes gives us exactly what we ask for…but not necessarily how we expect it. As you know, I’m kind of a neat freak. I like organization and tidiness in my life. It makes me happy. Or at least it makes me sane. I regularly clean out my drawers and cupboards just to make sure I have only what a want there and that it is all in order. But recently I was lamenting that my digital life is a mess. Files all over the place, nothing organized, and nothing backed up properly – I mean a mess. If it were a closet, I’d be embarrassed! In my head I have wished for a computer genie to come along and just sort it all out for me into lovely neat files, nothing duplicated, nothing I don’t need anymore. But of course I didn’t meet a genie or a tech genius. Instead I met with my own demise.

In an attempt at creating space on my older laptop that seems to constantly be telling me there is no more room, I seem to have deleted the hard drive. Yes, you read that correctly. The HARDDRIVE. Everything gone. Gulp. Not gonna lie. I cried. My kids were lovely and promised to help me remake my work or donate their pocket money to get a new whatever I would need. I cried. Then I laugh cried. Then I think I accepted. It’s gone. Stuff is gone. Some stuff I can’t get back. Some stuff I have on my external drive, and so all isn’t lost. But in the end it’s stuff. Virtual or not. It may represent hours of work on my part, but there are worse things in life.
So.. talk about an easy way to start the new year with a clean slate. This is it my friends! Forced or otherwise, I’m starting over in my digital life, and will try to be more organized digitally than in the past!
Tears dried I think I’m ready. Almost.
