What people are saying about yoga with me
When I started doing yoga, I was not a yogi. I was an athlete who thought it might be a good idea to do something that would lengthen my muscles. I didn’t think I was the “yoga type.” Nura quickly showed me how wrong I was. Nura creates the most balanced yoga environment that I have encountered in a decade of practice. She encourages you to push through your discomfort while being compassionate to yourself. Classes with Nura are wonderful reminders and ways care for your whole self. Nura is the architect of a space in which you can practice yoga seriously without taking yourself too seriously. Nura makes it ok to laugh at yourself and openly derive joy from your practice during class. Nura makes sure that her classes are accessible and challenging for all of her students.
Nura is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. She has a way of saying just the right thing to help you make appropriate adjustments to align your body correctly and find the proper positions for each pose. Nura reminds you of the basics that we so often forget as we advance in our skills and always providing you with new insights that will help you to further your practice.
Nura’s deep care for her students is apparent in her teaching. She is attentive to both your body and your mind. She pays careful attention to your practice and can tailor classes to specifically address your needs.
After a decade of practice, I have become a yogi, and, now living in NYC, I have no shortage of studios and teachers to choose from. That said, I haven’t found one whose classes I enjoy more than Nura’s. I am so excited for digital access to my favorite teacher!
I started practice with Nura 8 years ago. I have discovered that being a yogi is so much more than a finely casted pose or an hour of exercise. Nura had all to do with these revelations, and I have brought away 3 things; respect for myself and love and trust of Nura who is an extraordinary and inspirational instructor. You absolutely have to trust your instructor. Nura’ s unique mix of energy and calmness enables you to leave practice infused with well-being and determined to carry through and use her teaching for every day, not just during a practice. This is because Nura makes it a spiritual education as well as encouraging a commitment to a strong, flexible and healthy body. All poses can be recreated and reworked for an individual yogi’s needs, or taken further….this is always your very own decision and for your practice alone. The most empowering advice I remember from Nura every day, is, “I can do hard things” and “I am enough”, and all of this has been imparted with gentleness and humor and the 8 years keep on giving every day for me.
Nura’s yoga classes are a light at the end of my day. She makes yoga accessible to people of all kinds and levels. I always leave her classes relaxed, loose, and hopeful.
Nura’s classes are a complete experience. Each class is structured so carefully from top to bottom, with pranayama, mantras, and poses all intertwined with a class theme. It’s clear that Nura spends so much time preparing her classes with every detail and intention well thought out ahead of time. Her hands on assists have helped me further open up in several poses, and have given me more therapeutic and gentle guidance when I am struggling. No matter where I am in my body and mind prior to class, I know that by the end I’ll be open, relaxed, stronger, and in a better overall state.
Nura is a truly exceptional teacher – whether you’re on a yoga mat for the first time or a more a seasoned Yogini: be ready to feel inspired!
Nura has the gift of empowering and encouraging her students with compassion, and of making everyone in the room feel at ease. She lives and breathes Yoga.
Her lessons are dynamic and at times challenging, but she always manages to keep a sense of fun and light heartedness in them.
I am so grateful to be her student and look forward to many more sessions to come.
Yoga with Nura is always a great pleasure for me It is the perfect start into the week. Her lessons encourage and inspire me not only physically but also intellectually. I am really glad that I restarted Yoga with Nura.
I would not consider myself a “yogi”, but class with Nura is always a highlight of my week. I always leave feeling more open and positive, both physically and mentally. I’m really starting to believe she has some mind reading powers as well. It seems she tailors each class to be exactly what I need at that moment, from the intentions she encourages each person to make, to the poses she has us hold. In talking to others after class, they often feel the same way. It’s impressive, to say the least, that she can reach so many of us so often. I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to practice under Nura’s guidance for the last several years. She is truly gifted in what she does (with massage as well!) and her knowledge of yoga and the body are incredible. It’s clear she puts a lot of time, thought, and energy into planning each class. Nura has also helped guide me in my quest to become more mindful and kind to myself, and for that I will be forever grateful.
For years I have practiced yoga on and off, in and out of many different classes, and several different styles. I was always searching for the “one” that fit me, thought none of it seemed quite right. I did it because I knew it was “good” for me, and felt like it was something I was supposed to be doing to be healthy, a bit of exercise and connection with the mind and body, but I was bored. None of the courses really made me excited about going, it was more of a chore and I often found excuses not to go. Until now, in Nura’s class. I can’t explain it because it’s not something I could put into words, it’s something you have to experience. The first class I took with Nura I was like “whoa”. And every class after that has been the same. There is a profundity in each and every class I have taken that speaks to me. I feel like I have grown in ways that I never thought the practice could attribute to.
Over the past 7 years, I have been honored to be a student in Nura’s transformative yoga classes, which skillfully and playfully blend an anatomical focus with creative asana sequencing, resulting in an experience that’s challenging, yet ultimately restorative. Nura’s intensive training as a massage therapist combined with her discerning eye for alignment translate to adjustments that are nothing short of magical, helping students to realize their full potential both on and off the mat. As a yoga teacher myself who has taken classes from some of the foremost names in yoga, I recognize Nura as a truly world-class teacher and healer.
In the past nine years practicing yoga with Nura, she has helped me push back the clock on the aging process while nurturing a ‘can do’ spirit in my work and play. She’s an amazing, professional teacher with a fun, hardworking, spiritual approach. I don’t know where I’d be without you, Nura! I feel gratitude after each week’s yoga practice.
What people are saying about massage with me
Nura Madjzoub continually exemplifies excellency in massage. Due to her years of study, practice and obvious full knowledge of the body, she is able to target in each body the origin of pain or tension. Nura acknowledges the connectivity between all parts of us and works through each of those connectors to bring the body back to its place of rest. Because of Nura’s yoga training and teaching, she also brings a calming, peaceful element to her massages that I’ve not experienced elsewhere. Her touch is one of thorough healing of the spirit, mind and body.
Nura has been my massage therapist for several years. I have occasional severe back pain episodes when I am not able to get out of bed and I don’t trust having a massage with anyone else. Nura has a very deep knowledge of the human body and if you have a problem or tension, Nura will find it without any direction from you. She is careful but thorough and effective. In fact, just writing about a massage with Nura makes me want to call her and book one right now! I can recommend her without reservation.
I’ve come to Nura with physical issues ranging from acute injuries, general work-related tension, and even long term ailments. Her massage work is truly healing. She’s able to locate points of stress in my body that I’m not even aware of, and is able to free up my problem areas with precise work. She knows the body so well, both from her own kinesthetic understanding and as well as an intellectual and studied approach. Her work is on a different level than any massage I’ve received elsewhere.
Nura reads a body the way a gifted intellectual reads a book–making connections, finding the spot that needs attention and discovering the issues that are not right on the surface. Without my prompting, Nura was able to find old injuries and trouble spots that no other masseuse had ever been able to access. She is incredibly gifted in her craft.”
